0:05 Intro: Welcome to the Customer Resource Center informational video on chenille patches.
0:11 Chenille:
Chenille patches are made of a felt fabric material that serves as the patch's foundation
The signature chenille look has a terry-cloth wooly texture
The patch's finer details are made of traditional polyester thread in a satin stitch pattern.
0:33 Making the patch: Size and Coverage:
Our patch sizes are determined by the length plus height, divided by two.
This patch for example, is 4”
0:46 Colors:
Chenille patches include up to eight thread colors included in the cost of the patch.
Each additional thread color will incur an additional run charge per patch.
A metallic thread option is available for additional cost.
1:04 Border Options:
Chenille patches have only two border options. Satin stitch and hot knife. Merrowed is not available.
Satin stitch is a combination of a merrowed and hot knife border.
Hot knife cut for chenille is used for complex shapes.
1:27 Backing Types:
Chenille patches are available with the following backing options:
Stitch-on ready, also known as sew-on backing, is the most common backing; when using this type of backing, a merrowed border is recommended.
The most common backing is iron-on, also known as heat seal backing. Often used due to ease of application and to make sewing for long-lasting application a breeze.
Stick-on backings are a one-time use, removable adhesive backing. When this option is selected, it essentially turns your patch into a chenille sticker.
Plastic backing is used as a stabilizer to make large patches sturdier when stitching on and prevents a natural curl.
