0:11 Woven:

  • With a complex, two-dimensional style, woven patches have a smoother surface of 100% coverage compared to embroidered patches.

  • Made entirely of thread with no twill. Woven patches are designed with 100% tight woven thread coverage for fine details, gradients, landscapes, and small lettering.

0:34 Making the patch: Size and Coverage:

  • Our patch sizes are determined by the length plus height, divided by two.

  • This patch for example, is 7”

0:47 Colors:

  • Woven patches can have up to five thread colors and can be PMS color-matched.

  • Choosing colors can be tough, especially when dealing with gradients. Creating a mockup beforehand can help determine the ideal number of colors. If there are more than five colors, extra charges per color may apply.

  • Have complex artwork and are not sure how many colors you need? Ask us for assistance!

1:15 Border Options:

  • Woven patches have only two border options. Merrowed and hot knife. Satin stitch is not available.

  • Merrowed border overlocks the edge

  • Hot knife cut prevents fraying

1:34 Backing Types:

Woven patches are available with the following backing options:

  • Stitch-on ready, also known as sew-on backing, is the most common backing; when using this type of backing, a merrowed border is recommended.

  • The most common backing is iron-on, also known as heat seal backing. Often used due to ease of application and to make sewing for long-lasting application a breeze.

  • Another popular choice is hook and loop backing. The loop is sewn onto the desired fabric, and the hook is sewn onto the patch. A traditional backing style used by the military, police, and other civil servants.

  • Stick-on backings are a one-time use, removable adhesive backing. When this option is selected, it essentially turns your patch into a sticker.

  • Plastic backing is used as a stabilizer to make large patches sturdier when stitching on and prevents a natural curl.
